A well established paint coatings manufacturer in Modderfontein is looking for the services of an Area Manager to operationally manage and grow the current retail outlets. The successful incumbent will manage all three stores and will also relieve store managers from time to time. The stores retail decorative & industrial coatings, preparation products and accessories. • Assumes full responsibility for the running, management and performance of the stores. • Assumes full responsibility for sales performance across all branches. • Assumes full responsibility for operational management of and within the branches. • Assumes full responsibility for the management of all branch staff. • Assume physical sales activity in support of individual store sales objectives. Physically sell within the relevant geographic area of responsibility. • Support store staff in the field (at customer level) in order to close new business and win back non-billing customers. • Drive store performance and store KPA achievement. • Responsible for ensuring that store manager meet their objectives as contained in their KPA’s. • Ensure that store staff execute their job responsibilities effectively, efficiently and professionally. Each staff member must operate at the level required by their job. • Assumes full responsibility for exemplary housekeeping across all branches. • Hands on management of any potential store relocation projects. • Ensure the effective and efficient daily running of the stores encompassing all the activities required for such purposes. This includes daily cash-ups, daily ordering via MRP, stock optimization, stock takes, stock rotation, cash ups, banking etc within company policy / procedures. • Ensure that store P&L objectives are met and exceeded. • Ensure that store trading hours are adhered to across all locations. • Staff planning and scheduling. • Spend a minimum of one full day a week with each store. • Full understanding of the company’s systems and processes and the management of day-to-day activity relating to the store. • Take ownership of all customer problems and complaints, ensuring that they are effectively and efficiently handled and closed-off. • Ensure ethical, honest and professional business dealings with all customers. • Manage stock and stock losses and ensure that stores order via MRP daily (ensuring that MRP is used in accordance with company policy). • Responsible for the execution of in-store stock takes (daily via MRP and monthly) • Ensure that all staff are effectively trained (product knowledge, technical knowledge, customer service, retail best practices etc) • Managing, leading, motivating and training staff. • Ensure standards for quality, customer service and health and safety are met • Security / asset control • Ensure that all tasks and activities are carried out effectively and efficiently, with a sense of urgency, attention to detail and professionalism. • Ensure that deadlines are met. • Take ownership of identified problems/ issues ensuring that identified problems are effectively resolved and close-off (“not passing the buck”). • Carry out and complete any additional task as requested by senior management from time to time. • Ensure that senior management decisions are carried through to the team and fully supported. • Budgeting. • Management and hands on involvement with any potential store relocations. • Driving turnover to ensure achievement of targets (sales, turnover and NP). • CRM management. • Manage “colour production” within the colour procedure • Executing in-store merchandise strategy and standards • Ensure standards for quality, customer service and health and safety are met • Relieve individual store manager when necessary. • Custodian for store maintenance, store equipment, furniture, fixtures and fittings

• Demonstrable sales ability / track record and experience. • A-Team / best in class profile. • Paint experience most beneficial. • Social Media / marketing experience a plus • Demonstrable staff / branch management ability / track record. • Management ability and experience. • Previous branch / retail store management preferable. • A good understanding of retail business and business in general. • Experience in managing multiple staff and / or outlets essential. • Strong personality. • Analytical ability. • IT literate. • Fluent in Afrikaans and English • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Ability to work independently and as a team player. • High degree of professionalism and conduct at all times. • Strong interpersonal skills (time managements, assertiveness, and conflict resolution). • Own vehicle. • Figure and admin orientated, • Organised and thorough. • An excellent leader and business manager. • Sales and profit driven, and an effective cost containment manager. • Excellent customer service orientation. • Ability to work Saturday mornings.
